The hospitality sector is experiencing a significant talent shortage, with expectations of adding about a million jobs in the coming years. Experts note that post-COVID, the industry's hiring has nearly quadrupled, particularly for entry-level positions. However, there is a substantial mismatch between the available talent pool and the skills required by employers, resulting in a current talent demand-supply gap of about 55%-60%.

In an interview with ET HRWorld, our Vice President and Business Head, Dhriti Prasanna Mahanta, estimated that in 2023, the industry employed over 11 million people. By 2024, the tourism and hospitality sector will need a workforce of around 11.8 million. Dhriti further mentioned that the industry's talent demand will increase by 16.5% annually, reaching nearly 15 million by 2028.

Currently there are about 14 job roles tailored to the hospitality industry, under the Apprenticeship Act
