The logistics sector in India is set to expand to nearly $40 billion by 2027.
In a recent podcast on Businessline’s State of the Economy, Dhriti Prasanna Mahanta, our Vice President and Business Head, discussed the sector's rapid growth, job creation potential, and the transformative impact of technology and government initiatives.
He highlighted how cities like Chandigarh, Nashik, Indore, and Coimbatore serve as strategic logistics hubs due to their geographic advantages, facilitating efficient distribution and boosting job opportunities.
Dhriti also emphasized the critical role of the logistics sector in India’s economy and its ability to create diverse employment opportunities, both technical and non-technical, including promoting gender diversity.
He also underscored the benefits of apprenticeships in building effective supply chains within 6 to 12 months, citing the degree apprenticeship program as crucial for developing a skilled workforce and enabling apprentices to earn certifications or degrees upon completion.
Logistics companies are proactively involving apprentices to build a robust talent pool. Our recent research on apprenticeship intake across industries reveals that 70% of logistics employers are keen to enhance their apprenticeship programs.
